Abiding By the EPA Clean Water Act
Here at the Detail Squad, we understand and are aware of the newer laws and regulations pertaining to the Clean Water Act. Since we use almost no water in our services, we do not have any water runoff that will pollute into the storm drains. Any water that is used is collected and discarded properly.
The Clean Water Act requires cities to create enforceable regulations to prevent pollutants from flowing into storm drains and eventually polluting creeks and oceans. Charity and mobile car washes, in addition to personal car washing, contribute to this water pollution, which includes soap, oil and grease.
Mobile auto detailers and mobile car wash operators need to be knowledgeable about local environmental laws as it pertains to water containment. Any mobile car wash/ automotive detail business that operates “for profit” needs to reclaim ALL of their waste water, it’s the law! Currently, Central Coast Cities are now fining property owners per each occurrence and most cities are also citing detailers up to $2000 per fine when caught in the act.
If you hire a mobile detailer, it’s in your best interest and the best interest of our environment to make sure they are licensed, professional and are in compliance with the Clean Water Act. The vast majority of mobile fly-by-night car washers and auto detailers are not licensed, insured, properly trained or in compliance with the Clean Water Act.
